Sink or Swim

Haleigh is now swimming all by herself!  Yeah!!!!!  Yes, that's Evan on the side trying to swim after Haleigh.  He thinks he knows how.  I'll post a video of him soon.

My new favorite picture of Evan

After we swim we get Evan naked to go inside.  Lately he's been refusing to go inside and just wants to walk around naked.  It's really funny to watch him play naked like it's no big deal :)  Evan totally has a Martin butt!

Root Canal

I had to have my first root canal!  YIKES!  I went to the dentist on Friday and after being in the chair for 2 hours he said he couldn't do it.  He couldn't find my root so he had to refer me to and endodontist, What?  I could have cried.  So this morning I went to the endodontist to have my root canal again and after about and hour and a half in the chair he said, "I think you're going to have to come back, I can't find the root and am running out of time."  Again, I could have cried thinking, just pull the tooth out, I don't need it!  I said a quick prayer asking please find the root, please find the root.  He said he would look for 5 more minutes.  Miraculously, he found it like a minute later!  WooHoo!  So I sat there for another half hour while he did whatever it is you do after you find a root.  And after being in the dental chair for a total of like 6 hours I had my first root canal.  Of course it's not over, I have to go back in for my crown, but hopefully that won't be as long of a process!  So, afterwards I treated myself to a Starbucks white mocha frappuchino since my mouth was totally numb but I was starving and my jaw feels like it's been broken!

At The Library

Ok, so Evan and I are at the library for story time.  There's a big room and all the kids and parents are sitting on the floor.  The story lady is up front with here table and props and there's a white tape line that the kids are not supposed to cross.  There's a particular child ( I would say about 18 months old) that is running around like a hellion, tripping over people, going up and touching the lady's stuff etc., annoying everyone in the room and the mom just follows him around like a puppy dog with a smile on her face.  It's not cute lady!  It's so annoying to watch.
So, the teacher gets out her jingle bells and all the kids get to shake them during the song.  Then at the end the kids go up and put them back in her bag.  Evan's walking up there minding his own business, puts his bell away and is walking back.  This particular little boy looks at him, and then open hand slaps him across the face!  He slapped Evan so hard he fell over and hit his forehead on another little girls knee.  Evan and the little girl are crying and the little boy just  stands there.  Then to top it off his mom just comes and picks him up, looks at me and walks away. What!?  You say?  I know!  An apology goes a long way lady!!!!!!!  Evan's sitting there crying, tears streaming down his face with a hand mark on his cheek and a bump/bruise on his forehead.  I was so furious, and so were all the other moms around me!
Then after story time we head over to the children's section to read books.  As soon as I get over there I see him pushing another lady's stroller and his mom trying to get him to stop and then he runs over to the toy area and steps on another little boy and pushes another boy out of his way.  Then he runs over to some random lady and slaps his hands in her lap.  All the while the mom smiling, following him around and just picking him up and moving him.  That's not cutting it lady!  I thought about showing her how it's done and getting in her child's face, but really what good would that do.  I'm still mad about it, can you tell?
Nothing irritates me more than seeing parents let their kids do whatever they want to other people in public and not disciplining them.  I'm not perfect by any means and I know every kid has their moments, but you deal with them, and you apologize to people!  Obviously this kid was not having a "moment" It seems to be just how he acts, and I'm scared for what he's going to be like when he's older.  I know you're thinking, why didn't you say something Charla?  Well I almost did and then her husband walked up behind her and they were speaking another language and then I chickened out :)

Who Has The Time?!

I've been finding it difficult to post, and even to get on the computer lately with being a working woman!  I don't know how women do it with full time jobs!  For those of you who don't know I started working part time in the evenings at my friend Christine's salon as a receptionist.  At first it was so hard to leave.  I cried every time because Evan was screaming and Jarom was having to pry him off of me so I could leave.  I felt like such a horrible mother!  I have to say, I'm glad I made it through those first couple of weeks and am really enjoying it now.  It gives me some adult time away at the salon, and gives Jarom and Evan some special time too.  Evan doesn't scream anymore, he waves and blows me kisses because he knows I'll be back to put him to bed.  I have a lot more pics and videos to post but this is all the time for now :)  Here are a couple of pictures of Evan and his shoe craze!

Camping!

We took Evan on his first camping trip, he absolutely loved it!  Between shoveling dirt, playing baseball, chasing dogs, and four wheeling he had a blast!  We went to Stoneman Lake with Jarom's brother and family and some other friends.  It was really nice, a little chilly for my tastes but not too bad.  The weather was really nice it only rained a couple of times, of course one being when we were trying to take down the tent and pack up!  But it was still beautiful and nice to get away.  My son was on a hunger strike the whole time, he barely ate anything.  Apparently he was too busy playing to eat.  We took Chaundra and Haleigh with us and Haleigh was so funny, especially when it came to the first time she had to "take care of business" in the woods :)  We can't wait to go camping again!

A new trick Evan learned
This was taken about 10 minutes after we left the campsite, he was pooped!
